I had my GTT (glucose tolerance test) yesterday....not the most fantastic event thus far. Fasting from 10pm the night prior until after the test is completely over. I'm not sure everyone I know has had the joyous opportunity to drink 8 full oz of straight sugar liquid in less than 5 minutes. The test is done to make sure you do not have gestational diabetes. You
get do get to choose from fruit punch, orange, or lime....I chose fruit
punch...I'm sure I won't be drinking Hi-C anytime soon. So it begins....get blood drawn drink the sugar liquid....wait an hour, get blood drawn, wait another hour and get blood drawn yet again. They did say bring something to do...I of course after fasting for 10 hours overnight and not eating this morning didn't help my brain function very well and didn't remember to bring a single thing. I am thankful they have magazines in the waiting room. I do have to say I have NEVER seen so many differently shaped prego bellies in my life than the 2 hours I was at the Dr.s office today. It was great people watching and seeing all those beautiful women expecting wonderful miracles.
We had our 28 week appointment yesterday with Dr. Welch: She told us, "he is growing like a weed"
28 Week Facts:
Measuring: 30.5- a bit ahead, but Dr. Welch says its fine he's a healthy growing boy!
Heart Beat: 152
Size: Chinese cabbage -- about 2 1/4 pounds. (Length: almost 15 inches, from head to heel)
Jaredism: "you have to make the baby vogue"- when we were taking pictures on Sunday, then he proceeded to vogue the baby belly.
Fun Facts:
*Dr Welch noted that he is head down, but up still in a floating position :)
*The Nursery is slowly but surely coming together....stay tuned pictures will be up soon!!
*Also a fun fact...our wonderful friends Amanda and Hoyt had their baby girl early this morning!!! Can't wait to meet her :)
We've been thinking about Sundra a lot but especially today, as it has been 10 months since we gained our special guardian angel. We love you Sundra!
Sending Love & Laughter,
Beka & Jared

I can't believe how close you are to him being here! Enjoy every minute of it! I can't wait to see pictures of the nursery!

Beka-when you reference Dr. Welch, are you referring to Kelly Welch, who taught our Human Development class. That's pretty exciting. She was a hoot, who loved to show videos of woman giving birth-be leery of any video cameras surfacing at the hospital, you may be her next lesson plan. Ha! Kidding! Can't wait for your little guy to be born. Miss you.
ReplyDeleteI can't believe it either Katie! The nursery is coming together and hopefully will be all ready in the next few weeks!
ReplyDelete:) nope Janelle, this Dr. Welch is Dr. Maura Welch! haha I don't think Kelly Welch is an OBGYN!!! and I even asked at one point over the years if they are related and she said no, don't think so! We can't wait for him to be here either! Will you be visiting Manhattan anytime soon? Miss you too!!
